Miss March 2006: Sindel Chaos
As everything began…? (Modelling)
I have been modeling since age ten. I am very open-minded and creative when it comes to my work. I'm hardworking and determined to do a good job. I specialize in Goth/underground/alternative looks, but love to take on any look.
Secret Magazine: Sindel Chaos is probably a pseudo. Where did it
come from, what is your real name, and where are you from?
Sindel Chaos: "Sindel Chaos" was actually given to me by a few friends of mine. I was thinking of names to use online as my alias and I didn't want anything too unrealistic or cheesy. One of them finally came up with "Cindal" which eventually changed spelling to "Sindal" and then to what it is today, "Sindel."
Now, I didn't just want a first name as it would probably be taken by someone else and cause a bunch of confusion. I thought of simple yet interesting words, so that I'd stick out a little bit and of course, it would have to suit me. A friend came to me one day and said, "You know, your whole life has been really chaotic, I'm amazed that you've turned out so well!" It was then decided that I would be known as "Sindel Chaos."
My first name is Sarah, which is Hebrew for "Princess." My middle name is Marie, which is French for "the Bitter Sea". I have an Austrian friend that calls me Prinzessin von Bitterkeit, Princess of the Bitter Sea. Had it been shorter, I probably would have used it as my alias.
I'm originally from Joplin, Missouri, but have moved around a little bit since then. I always come back and visit friends and family.
Secret Magazine: Why and when did you start to model?
Sindel Chaos: I actually got into modeling by accident. My sister wanted to be a model and she was a naive little 13 year old at the time and I was the ten year old little sister whom kept to herself. She heard about one of those "model searches" on the radio and just had to go. Of course, I got dragged into all of this when my mother wouldn't allow my sister to go unless I went as well. I've always had a pretty low self-esteem, so the idea of me modeling never even crossed my mind. I always saw myself as the ugly little sister. We got to the Holiday Inn, filled out our info cards, and waited in a long line. They were handing the accepted people cards, so they could tell who they chose. My sister went in front of me and they told her she was too short, so she walked away from the table and waited for my turn, so she could laugh at me for being a big loser. When I went up to the table, they quickly handed me a card. My sister was so upset she stormed from the room and cried in the bathroom. Instead of feeling really overjoyed, I was very upset because my sister's feelings were hurt. After the shock had died off, I decided I would pursue modeling as it was something new and exciting. My sister eventually got over it and lost interest in modeling.
Secret Magazine: I can imagine that most of your fans think you're like on your website in real life... Are you?
Sindel Chaos: You know, it's funny. I get such weird reactions from people who meet me in real life from the internet. Usually, if I'm going to a shoot where styling is provided, I just kinda dress comfortably and casually put my hair up in a bun in a hair clip and put on my glasses. Some photographers get surprised when they see me. One of my best friends actually told me the first time we shot together, he thought I was this big computer dork and that my sister was going to come in any minute all decked out in PVC or leather ready to model.
Don't get me wrong, I love dressing up and stuff, but when it comes to shoots, I want the photographer to look at me like a canvas. They can look at my outfits or the outfits provided for me to model and get an idea of what they are looking for. I'll give my input and then we collaborate.
As far as fans go, I've heard everything from, "You're just as beautiful as I'd imagined!" to "OMG, you're Sindel Chaos!? You look nothing like your pictures!" I'd just like to think of myself as me both on and offline.
Secret Magazine: What is your personal fetish? What gives you the biggest rush?
Sindel Chaos: I have a big corset fetish. The next thing I hope to purchase is a neck corset.
Secret Magazine: Do you get a kick in showing off your body? or do you do it for any artistic reason?
Sindel Chaos: I try not to show off too much of my body as I always like to leave a little mystery. There is usually artistic thought/value executed in every one of my shots. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with nudity or those who do it. I love being nude in my own space and sometimes wish I could join a nudist colony, but it's just not something I want the world to see right now. Not to mention, I also do fashion and commercial orientated stuff and nudity would extremely limit myself on a lot of paying jobs that I do.
Secret Magazine: Do you attend gothic/fetish/BDSM parties, and if so, do
you participate and play?
Sindel Chaos: I've attended a few events, but nothing nationally known. I wouldn't mind performing to some extent, but haven't as of yet. I think it would be fun to dominate a pretty girl or a fem boy.
Secret Magazine: What are your hobbies? Who are your heroes?
Sindel Chaos: Besides modeling, I am really into making candles, reading, writing, learning about cultures specifically Japanese, traveling, helping my fiance with music, shopping, attending historical and artistic landmarks/museums, and I'm currently going to school to be an esthetician.
My heroes are all of the starving artists of the past and present that put their all into their work and never give up even if they don't get the proper recognition they deserve.
Secret Magazine: Who do you admire or is your idol?
Sindel Chaos: I admire a lot of people for different reasons. I admire my friend, Dena's, patience, Brian's sense of humor, Sydney's unconditional love, my grandmother's forgiveness, my mother's assertiveness, and my father's eccentricity and intelligence. I also admire everyone I've had the pleasure working with for their hardwork, effort, and artistic ability.
Secret Magazine: If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Sindel Chaos: First off, I'd get out of debt, Then, buy a nice home and a decent car. Then, I'd spend a few thousand on wardrobe and recording equipment for me and my fiance. Then, I'd donate a few thousand to charity, family, and friends. The rest would go into savings.
Secret Magazine: What is your ultimate-dream-come-true?
Sindel Chaos: There's a lot of different ways I could answer this question, but I'll just go with the short-and-to-the-point answer. I'd like to have everything I want and need with no strings attached.
Secret Magazine: Thank you Sindel !!!
